Dr Kathryn Hurlock (Manchester Metropolitan University
Examines pilgrimages from Manchester to Holywell in Wales, and shows how ideas about ‘healing’ and miracle cures shaped the experiences of disabled people in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Dr Hurlock has published widely on the history of Pilgrimage and healing from the medieval period to the present. She also researches combat stress in medieval warfare, examining attempts by veterans to seek phycological and physical well-being.
