Recent Events
The Cultures of Disability research group run events throughout the year exploring the experience of disability throughout history and up to the present day. We work closely with disabled people and partner organisations to examine how different people experience disability, using historical examples to reassess contemporary experiences.
We aim to challenge perceptions of disability and the marginalisation of disabled people by examining historical and contemporary cultures of disability. We want to make the experiences of disabled people recognised as part of the wider history and cultural heritage of the UK.
You can attend some of these events in person, while others are online events. You can find information about how to register for upcoming events on this page, or read about events we have held in the past. To find out about upcoming events you can register for our mailing list,or contact us to request further information.
Events will have BSL interpretation and, where possible, captions. If you have any other access requirements, please contact us.
We encourage approaches by disabled people, Disabled People’s Organisations, and potential partner organisations who want to develop collaborations. Please contact us here.
