Dr Jarrett has worked with people with learning disabilities and autism for many years, and now advises local authorities and the NHS on improving services. His latest book, Those They Called Idiots:  The Idea of the Disabled Mind 1700-Present (2020), explores ideas of intelligence, race and disability.
